John Forester's ghost— and why men still won't tell other men they are wrong

In this episode of Auto Asphyxiation Kimberly and Lark discuss John Forester. As we tend to judge by actions, not declarations we’re wondering why is his methods still a thing and they are very much a thing. Today’s cycling establishment claims to have rejected the gospel of John Forester—the father of vehicular cycling—yet their behavior tells a different story. They still center the white, middle-class male middle class roadie as the model cyclist. They still elevate the spandex-clad in glossy photo spreads. And they still cling to education over infrastructure as their primary strategy. They can say Forester was wrong, but they’re still moving like everything he preached was perfectly fine.
