The Car Stole Winter!

Winter didn’t disappear by (crash not) accident, it was stolen!

In this episode of Auto Asphixiation Kimberly and Lark discuss how the climate crisis has turned winter from a predictable season into a question mark: “Does it even snow here anymore?” That uncertainty becomes an excuse to underfund snow removal, transit preparedness, and worker protections—until a storm hits and people are told to risk their lives anyway, heck even if a storm hits, “Don’t worry it won’t be that bad, can you come in?”

Instead of reliable public transit and coordinated winter planning, we’ve normalized dangerous driving conditions, gig workers being pressured onto icy roads, and the expectation that food delivery matters more than human safety. This isn’t about weather—it’s about unconsenting auto asphixiation, austerity, and who is expected to absorb the risk.

Winter didn’t fail us. Our systems did.
