No on S4834 and no that moped isn't a bike

Auto Asphyxiation LIVE! While Senator Nick’s proposed bill, S-4834 merits the harsh scrutiny it is receiving, our latest discussion addresses a less visible aspect of the debate: the foundational language and categorical frameworks that often predetermine legislative outcomes. We examine how ambiguous definitions in policy can create the very conditions that make expansive measures appear necessary—or even inevitable.

Hosts Kim and Lo explore the role of precise terminology in shaping public perception and policy legitimacy. We agree, S-4834 exemplifies regulatory overreach, it is not the only instance where blurred lines, such as classifying certain motorized vehicles as bicycles (to appease corporations), invite a closer, more critical look.

We believe it’s time to address these distinctions clearly, rather than pretend they are not there, because who is that helping? We ride a bike, we don’t have a company so why are we protecting millionaires?!
